This Weeks Discussion: Gary Hobbs sent through this weeks discussion. Here's his message: I'm just back from the Long Course Weekend, in Tenby, Wales (www.longcourseweekend.com). It an Ironman over a weekend, swimming Friday evening, biking Saturday, and running Sunday. 1.9 or 3.8km swim. 112, 72 or 40 mile bike. Full or Half Marathon. Swim and Bike following the IM Wales routes. Only the run differs. 

So, questions: How much quicker do you think you would be over the IM distance if you had the 12+ hours recovery between disciplines?Would you pace each discipline different as they are stand alone compared to your approach in an IM? Comment here

Age Grouper of the Week: Rob Commins sent through his partner Aisling Coppinger as this week age grouper. She has had a tough period when it comes to injuries but this hasn't stopped her from running 161km in 24 hours. Plus she's looking to do IMUK on hardly any training. She's hard as nails.

IMTALK EPISODE 370 - Dr Douglas Scott

News: Results from IM Germany, Roth and The Outlaw, Kona qualifying changes slightly, ITU update.

This Weeks Discussion: Kurt Taylor sent through this weeks discussion, he asked: What do you think the possibility of Ironman creating a series at a modified distance (between 51.50 and 70.3) that would get the pros to race each other multiple times a year on courses around the world.  As it is now, you will only see Crowie, The Raelerts, Macca, Jacobs etc... going head  to head at Kona.  The same is happening with the girls.  If the top 10 boys and girls were racing each other 6-7 times leading up to Kona, you could sell a TV package since the races are going to be just a couple of hours.  You could have a points system, and overall championship, or even make it a full series of different distance and include the regional championships as part of the series.
